The room honestly exceeded our expectations. It is true that the photos make it appear a little larger than it is (or at least this was true with our particular room). However, I was blown away by how nice it was. The photos looked nice but it felt so much nicer once we were actually there. The entrance to the hotel is also gorgeous and the sitting area outside in the back is as well. Staff was super friendly and answered a lot of our questions about the area. The location was perfect for us-- we ended up walking somewhere close to dinner our first evening and checked off a lot of the big tourist attractions (things we just wanted to walk by and see, like Times Square, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Central Park) off the list right away. It's walking distance to a Starbucks which was nice for the mornings. Our room was located on the 26th floor (if I remember correctly) and in the back of the building-- we were able to crack the window open and even with it open, it never got very loud.

Clean boutique hotel, had a relaxed vibe and the room was very spacious. Location is spot on for getting away from the business of Times Square plus the hotels around that area look a bit run down and cluttered. This hotel was near all the locations and a gem was Bryant Park in the evenings, a 5 min walk. Our room was cleaned every day and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting NY. This was our first visit to the city and we felt safe staying at this end of the city. We were upgraded to a superior room on arrival which was a lovely bonus after a long flight. Each member of staff was friendly including the cleaning staff. The bagels, croissants in the morning and big Starbucks 24/7 free coffee and tea machine was a welcomed treat

What a wonderful Manhattan gem. If you’re on any sort of budget in NYC, this is the place for you. Lovely, personal greeting with an upgrade for our birthdays and accommodated an extremely early check in without us even asking. Yes, rooms are small… it’s Manhattan. But they were spotless and comfortable, modern and well arranged to maximize space. Fabulous free coffee and pastries in a cute little breakfast room. Other pluses: easy discounted parking in a valet garage right across the street ($40 per 24 hours), nice location easy to walk to Bryant Park, Times Square, etc. In essence, this small boutique-style hotel has all the nice touches you don’t find with the larger Marriott or Hilton type chains.

Everything was just right for us. The nespresso coffee service in the room was a delight. Bagels and cappuccino in the lobby area was a wonderful start to each morning. Not too much food. The staff was very helpful taking time to show us how to get around. The room is small but the design had enough accommodations to keep stuff put away and neat and tidy. The shower was amazing.

The staff at the Pestana on 39th St Manhattan exceeded all standards of hospitality and service, whether it was housekeeping, front desk reception or management. As a life long hospitalier and world traveler myself, never have I seen the degree of anticipation of guest needs existing in any but a few truly 5 star properties or in Thailand.
